Logistics boss: We’ve come a long way

The managing director of a rapidly growing Manchester company has spoken about the logistics industry becoming a fantastic place to build a career – with endless opportunities for growth.

Marie Boyer, whose France Line International Transport Ltd continued its trend of year-on-year growth with a 9.8 per cent increase in revenues last year, hopes to use Careers Week to recruit more ambitious individuals into the industry.

Boyer said: “Logistics is here to stay. The world is getting smaller, and international trade is now a factor in so many businesses. Logistics plays a crucial part in this and our expertise – not just moving boxes around, but so much more besides this – has never been more in demand.”

France Line, which is itself currently recruiting, uses commercial links and specialist knowledge of France to transport goods in and out of the country, and often beyond.

Boyer added: “There is a wealth of opportunity for a whole range of different skills sets within our industry. Maybe many decades ago this was a world that people fell into by accident, but now there are clearly defined roles, legitimate training and qualifications and rewarding career paths to be followed.

“I would love to see more people entering into logistics – especially high calibre individuals. I want to raise awareness that we have plenty of job opportunities, and our industry is here to stay.”
