Is social media a waste of time?

One of the most common questions that people ask me is: How do you find the time to do social media?

Where indeed? We’re all busy enough doing our everyday jobs, with out having to factor something else in – something which many people still see as being equivalent to having a ‘watercooler’ chat.

But imagine if there was a way to:

  • find new customers;
  • get to know industry issues,
  • listen to what is being said about your company
  • influence people who have questions about your industry sector
  • What if you could get past the gatekeepers to the decision makers?
  • If you could demonstrate your expertise and all round suitability to get new business?

 

Used properly, social media can help you achieve all these.

In my view, social media is at the intersection of market research, customer service and communications.

Who wouldn’t make time for that?
