Are you underselling yourself?

I’ve read a book recently called The Colour by Rose Tremain, about the New Zealand gold rush in the 19th century.
It’s a fascinating story, yet in amongst the drama and obsession, one sentence stood out for me.

“All of us underestimate the knowledge we possess, for although the getting of it may be hard, once it is got, we think of it as innate, as though we were born with it.”

Wow, what a true statement. And that’s what makes it hard to sell ourselves effectively. We often have NO IDEA of the value that our knowledge brings.

So today, just take a moment to reflect on what you do know, how much hard work you had to put in to acquire that knowledge, and how much benefit it brings to other people/businesses.

And start to value it.
