Manchester-based France Line International Transport Ltd, the European road freight forwarder that specialises in routes into France, has been shortlisted by Women in Logistics UK for its SME of the Year Award.
The award is for companies of less than 250 employees who have made a contribution to getting more women involved in logistics.
France Line’s specialist knowledge of France has allowed the company to become a major player in the industry, exporting full and part trailer loads including dry and ambient food, industrial cargo, machinery, printed matter, packed chemicals, building materials, plastics, retailer and houseware goods.
FranceLine’s MD, Marie Boyer is an award-winning industry role model who heads her all-female team of five.
“Our business is growing 11% year on year through customer recommendations, and because we are continually developing the services we offer. We didn’t set out to be all female at all, but have taken on candidates based on their skills.
“Whilst France Line is growing in terms of customer base, services and team members, we intend to remain a small company, offering a personal service to our customers with our fleet of French drivers running alongside a strong network of dedicated independent European hauliers.”
The company has more than 30 years of experience helping exporters break into and capitalise on the lucrative overseas market, and more recently has built upon its import operations.
The winner of the SME of the Year Award will be announced at Women in Logistics’ Charity Ball & Awards on Friday 20th September 2013.
